English opposite-word listening lessons

Review the fifteen word pairs before play. Choose one calling mode for the round: direct word recognition or identifying the opposite. Record the answer on the card, rather than the clue word. Vocabulary stays in English.

How to play

  1. 1

Review the word list together. Give each learner a card and explain the winning pattern, such as one row.

  2. 2

Call a word or give one clear clue. Record the answer word in the caller so the completed card can be checked.

  3. 3

Pause when a learner calls Bingo. Check the words against the call record, then invite the learner to read them or use one in a sentence.

Make it work for your group
In opposite mode, the clue Hot means mark Cold. Explain this rule before the round so players do not mark the spoken word by mistake.
