Made for nature walks and outdoor scavenger activities

This observation hunt mixes colors, shapes, plants, sounds and signs of wildlife. Choose an accessible area, review the tasks and replace anything your group is unlikely to find before printing. Players observe and leave objects in place; no collecting is required.

How to play

  1. 1

Agree on the play area, time limit and winning pattern. Explain which discoveries count and how the organizer will check them.

  2. 2

Walk around the agreed area. Mark a square when you spot or hear its item. Leave plants, animals and objects where they are; skip anything unsafe or out of reach.

  3. 3

When someone completes the pattern, ask them to describe or point out their discoveries. The organizer checks the completed tasks in person.

Make it work for your group
Adapt tasks for the location, season and abilities of your group, and use a 3 × 3 grid for a shorter hunt. This template turns off the caller checklist and called-game instructions; introduce the activity using these steps.
